Meet: Brittany Shuck

Brittany, tell us what you do:
I am a web designer/developer and CRO expert who helps e-commerce brands go from struggling to thriving with design that breeds lasting connections with customers in an industry obsessed with quick fixes and immediate results.

What steps did you take to end up here?
I started my love for all things design through the game Neopets at the age of 8. That was my introduction to coding and design. After that I was hooked and took every design/development elective offered to me throughout my public school. Eventually that led to me starting to freelance about 10 years ago and this really helped me to hone my craft with a wide range of freelance clients from agencies, in-house, and freelance settings before I decided to start my own studio.

What fuels your creativity?
I fuel my creativity by getting away from the screen. I love being outside in nature and that really helps me feel refreshed and ready to flex my creative muscles really encourages me to push the bounds creatively.

What is a project you really enjoyed and what made it so enjoyable?
I work on an on-going basis with the W&P team. I’ve seen them through a few rebrands and launching new features on their site. I love it because the team is fantastic and I really get to make recommendations on how we can increase conversion rates based on the feedback/data we receive every month from their customers.

What defines a good from a great client for you?
A great client for me is someone that trusts my expertise as a CRO expert.

What defines a terrible client for you?
A terrible client for me is someone that is indecisive. Reworking things multiple times or having “too many cooks in the kitchen” can make the timeline and budget grow out of control sometimes.

What makes you different from competitors/peers in your field?
A lot of CRO experts take a traditional approach where they use various data points collected from experiments like A/B tests to improve specific areas on a website in order to get a customer to purchase a product. I really take a more holistic approach to CRO where I do A/B testing just like traditional CRO. However, I look at a client’s brand as a whole by looking for alignments and friction points at each stage of the customer's journey on their site. I really compare brand elements like design, tone of voice, personality, and ease of use in order to optimize the entire user experience from the moment a customer lands on a website to the point of purchase. I have really seen that brands that focus on brand consistency tend to see the results they want.

How would you describe your style?
My style is definitely eclectic to say the least. I like to think of myself as a design chameleon so I really morph the style of the websites I design and build to fit my client’s preferred aesthetic.

What trends are you seeing in your field right now (or to come)?
I think you’ll see brands that want to push the envelope in terms of layout of their websites to try to move away from the basic Shopify template to stand out of the crowd and move into layouts that are unexpected and draw customers in.

Why do you like working with No Revisions?
I really like the inherent trust and convenience of the no revisions model. I think it really allows me to focus on my zone of genius in order to deliver the best work possible!
